Development and optimization of the simultaneous DNA and RNA isolation from flash-frozen bone marrow aspirate from patients with acute myeloid leukemia

UAB Cureline Baltic is implementing a research project „Development and optimization of the simultaneous DNA and RNA isolation from flash-frozen bone marrow aspirate from patients with acute myeloid leukemia“, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, provided in 2014–2020 year of the European Union Funds Investment Operational Program Priority 1 "Promotion of Research, Experimental Development and Innovation" Measure No. 01.2.1-MITA-T-851-01.

Human bone marrow aspirate is considered as one of the most valuable and widely used sources for cancer biomedical research. Flash-freezing technology allows easier and more convenient handling of biomaterial, however to this date there is lack of data describing effective simultaneous DNA and RNA extraction from bone marrow. This research project aims to develop and optimize the dual DNA/RNA isolation by using commercially available simultaneous extraction kits. As a result of the project, protocol for simultaneous DNA and RNA isolation will be developed and applied in future research projects.

Project immplemenetation period from August 2021 to September 2022.

The total value of the project is EUR 13 153,0. The amount of support allocated from the European Regional Development Fund to the project is EUR 7 891,8.
